Vasyl Barabash
September 7, 1937
  Father Kyrylo Barabash is arrested by the NKVD in Poltava Province, Ukraine.
February 2, 1938
  Kyrylo Barabash is executed in the Lokchim Camp Gulag (Komi ASSR,
Russian SSR).
March 8, 1938
  Vasyl Barabash is born in the village of Yordanivka, Poltava Province, Ukraine.
Autumn, 1941
  Mother Tetiana Barabash dies.
1945
  Placed into an orphanage in Varvarivka, Poltava Province.
1954
  Sent to work in the Khalturino sugar factory.
1956-1966
  Forced to work in the Donbas coal mines and to serve in the Soviet Army.
Resumes labor in the Kadiyevka coal mines.
1966-1970
  Studies at the Luhansk State College of Art.
1970
  Begins to work professionally at the Luhansk Art Studio.
1971-1978
  Artwork is accepted at exhibitions in Ukraine and internationally.
1978
  Becomes a member of the Artists' Union of Ukraine.
1994 & 1995
  Travels to Latvia with two individual exhibitions.
May 24, 1996
  Leaves Ukraine for the United States and settles down in Amityville,
Long Island, New York.
December 1998
  Works exhibited at the St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Uniondale,
New York.
February-May 1999
  Solo show at Mayana Gallery, New York City.

  Begins studies at the New York Public Library's Adult Literacy and English Language Programs (funded by the Mayor’s Office of Adult Education.)

  Short stories and poetry appear in New Leaves, a publication of the New York Public Library Seward Park and Tompkins Square Centers for Reading and Writing.

  The life-size drawing on cardboard (25,5’ x 11,6’) for "The Protection
of the Virgin Mary” façade mosaic is completed.

  Short story “Born in Ukraine” is published in The Literacy Review (vol. 9.)
2011
  Honorable mention is made for “Was My Soul on the Moon?” —a personal story, depicted in the painting of the same name, and selected by author Ashley Bryan for the NCV Foundation presentation of The Story Lines Prize.
November 2011
  The installation of “The Protection of the Virgin Mary” mosaic onto the façade of the All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church is fully executed.
June 10, 2012
  Assisted by seven pastors and priests, His Eminence Metropolitan Antony
of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of USA conducts the dedication and blessing ceremony of the All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church façade mosaic, created by Vasyl Barabash.
